Jidai Matsuri †

Jidai Matsuri (Jidai=era, Matsuri=festival) will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008. Jidai Matsuri is one of the renowned three great festivals in Kyoto. (The other two are Aoi Matsuri in May and Gion Matsuri in July.)

The highlight of the festival is a procession of people in historical costumes. About 2000 people of 2km parade from Kyoto Gosho (old imperial palace) to Heian Shrine for 5hours. The participants in the procession wear period costumes representing styles from Meiji Eera (1868-1912) to Heian Era (794-1192).

Banquet †

A sympoium banquet will be held at Tokiwa-Shin-den in Yasaka Shrine. Yasaka Shrine is a famous Shinto shrine in Gion district, which is near the hotel area in Kyoto city.

All participants and accompanying persons are invited to attend the banquet.
